Basking in the sun

Description
Holland River in the Simcoe County flows through rich fertile farmlands in Southern Ontario, Canada. Apart from feeding the vast agricultural lands alongside, the river has attracted abundant wildlife. It also attracts many visitors to the area as well and it is a common sight to see boaters, picnickers and anglers enjoying themselves on and along the river. As a result, some parts of the river have become dumping grounds. This painted turtle carrying a load of algae on its back, basking in the sun on top of a discarded tire is a sad example how pollution due to human activity has affected wildlife in the area.
